Cable in the Classroom
|
Time Warner Cables commitment to local schools began as a
founding member of Cable in the Classroom, a public service
initiative of the cable television industry, in 1989.
Through this program we provide free cable television and
Road Runner High Speed Internet service to local schools that
qualify for the program. By providing access to more than 540
hours of commercial-free educational programming each month by
our 39 member networks, educators can receive
curriculum-related support materials to aid them in the
classroom. For more information on the program, please go to:

The Common Good
|
For the fifth consecutive year, Time Warner Cable and C-SPAN,
the nations public affairs television network, challenged
high school students to think about THE COMMON GOOD by
answering an essential question being debated by elected
officials and in communities across the country: Is the
Common Good Served by Todays Campaign and Election Process?
In 2003, Mason Turner, a student at Smithson Valley High School,
successfully answered the question debated last year in the form
of an essay and was one of 10 winners chosen nationwide.
Mason and his teacher won an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, DC.

Media Literacy Campaign
|
The Texas Media Literacy Program is a collaboration between
the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Texas Cable &
Telecommunications Association (TCTA), and the local Cable
Systems. It is a curriculum-training program designed for
middle and high school teachers to help our students to
become more powerful consumers. Time Warner Cable is proud to
support the school districts in San Antonio by providing them
with the training materials that will furnish our students
with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed
decisions about the barrage of media messages they receive
on a daily basis.
